After reading several iPod Touch Reviews and trying out a few different mp3 players, I think I’ve finally come to a final decision on which mp3 player I’d like to get my son for the holidays.

Not being an owner of any Apple products, I wasn’t sure what to expect from an iPod. After spending a few hours’ online reading tech and consumer reviews I decided to go into a local electronics retailer and actually “play” with the iPod and a few other mp3 players.

I was very impressed with how much the iPod Touch can do. When the iPod Touch is connected to Wi-Fi it’s basically just like the iPhone. The iPod Touch 4G lets you text message (well, iMessage technically) with other Apple devices for free. You can also video chat, called Face Time, over Wi-Fi for free as well.

The screen resolution on the iPod Touch is in a class all its own. The “Retina Display” is so clear and sharp. I wasn’t expecting that from an mp3 player. Funny thing is, when I was testing out the iPod Touch at the store, I got really into a couple of the games they had on the demo iPod Touch and I forgot that I was checking out an “mp3” player.

There are so many apps available for free on the iPod Touch; it’s very impressive. There are games, Google apps, scholastic apps, and social media apps; anything you can think of. Being a parent I saw a lot of potential with the iPod Touch to help my son with school and I saw an opportunity to save a lot of money on video games.

Most of my son’s video games are around $50-$60 a game. There are countless free games available on the iPod Touch and there are some really cool games for only $.99 and the “expensive” games are still only $5-$10. That saves me a lot of money on Christmas and birthdays.

The data storage capabilities are fantastic for the iPod Touch. They offer a couple different options for data storage, an 8GB, 32GB, and 64GB iPod. I think the 32GB iPod Touch will be the one I buy for my son; it’s not too small and not too expensive. That should be more than enough storage space for music, apps, and pictures/videos.

The picture quality and video quality of the iPod Touch are second to none. In fact, I didn’t even see another mp3 player with a camera built into it (maybe it was the store or maybe there isn’t one out there). The iPod Touch has a high definition camera which takes 720p video. The video I took in the store looked fantastic, other than the fact that the video was of nothing of interest.

A few other things that I really like about the iPod Touch 4G is how easy it is to use. I like how simple it is and how easy it will be for “us,” the parents, to control what is on our son’s iPod. I like that there is only one place where my son can download apps and that I don’t have to worry about viruses or inappropriate material being in those apps because Apple screens and approves every app on their market.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the new iPod Touch 4G and am happy to get one for my son. The only thing I’m nervous about is when I go to buy my son his iPod Touch 4G, I’m not sure I can resist the temptation to buy one for myself.

This may not be your typical review, but I’m not a paid tech guy or a big advertising company. With the holidays upon us I thought other curious parents would appreciate a more down to earth perspective than your typical geeky iPod Touch Reviews.

After reading countless iPod Touch Reviews 4G, I decided to get off my duff and get myself into a store and actually hold and use one. Not being an “Apple” guy and never really having much experience with any of Apple’s products, I was very surprised how much I liked the iPod Touch 4G.

I really like how practical it is. I have been considering purchasing an iPod Touch 4G for my son for Christmas and after fooling around on one for a while, I think I will.

The specs and quality of the iPod Touch 4G are fantastic. For something so thin and so compact it sure can do a lot and withstand a lot; which is important because my son will be using the iPod and he’s not know for being gentle with things.

I’ve always thought of iPod’s to be simply mp3 players. I couldn’t have been more wrong when it comes to the iPod Touch 4G. The iPod Touch 4G does so many things that the music playing aspect of it almost gets swept under the rug, as the cliché goes.

The iPod Touch 4G can iMessage for free (basically it’s a text message that goes to any Apple device with the current iOS software) and it can do Face Time video chat. We have Wi-Fi in our home and there are plenty of places around town that have free Wi-Fi that my son could use to check in with us or send/receive messages to for from us.

With the Wi-Fi, my son will have access to the internet which is crucial for him to complete a lot of his school work. There are also thousands and thousands of apps available in the app world that my son can use to help him with his school work (i.e. dictionary apps, reference guides, etc).

On the fun side of the app world, there are countless games and fun apps available; most of which are free. My son always wants the new video games that seem to come out almost weekly and they get expensive at $50-$60 a pop.

The way I see it, this iPod Touch 4G will be able to temporarily hold off the need for my son to have a computer/laptop, a handheld gaming device, and the newest/hottest video games. Not to sound too ridiculous, but for the age my son is now, he can get all of those functions and features in the iPod Touch 4G.

He can even take pictures and record high definition video in 720p. I had no idea that a “music player” could be so versatile and useful. I mean, big picture thinking here, he can be entertained when we travel, he can have help for school assignments, we can check in with him via iMessage or video chat to make sure he’s ok and I save a ton of money on the laptops, video games and handheld gaming devices I don’t need to buy anymore.

If you haven’t yet, check out the specs and features on Apple’s website. There is a lot more technical information on there as far as data storage options, battery life, etc for the iPod Touch 4G.

I’ll probably write another quick post on the specs and my final ideas about the iPod Touch 4G in the near future. Until then, I would highly recommend you read up on the iPod Touch reviews 4G and even go into a local electronics retailer and try out a demo iPod Touch 4G

iPod Touch Reviews For Kids

My son has asked for an iPod Touch 4G for Christmas and not being very familiar with Apple brand products, I started to read specs and iPod Touch reviews for kids. People seem to love iPods. There are an incredible amount of reviews for all the different iPods Apple makes.

That’s kind of why I started this blog, to help parents like me to get the bottom line information and impressions of the iPod Touch 4G. I mean, how much “OMG this is sooooo awesome!” types of reviews can one read, seriously.

After reading what a lot of people had to say about the iPod Touch 4G, I checked out Apple’s website to get the specs and bear bone facts of what the iPod Touch 4G is capable of doing. I was more than impressed with what I read on Apple’s website.

My first thoughts about the iPod Touch before I read anything online was that it was a trendy music player that all the kids have these days. My eyes have been opened as they say, and I’ve come to realize how much an iPod Touch can actually do.

I was most surprised to find out that the tiny, skinny little iPod Touch could take high definition video – in 720p! My phone doesn’t even do that. The video feature allows one to video chat via Face Time. I think you can use Skype and other video services as long as there’s an app for it in the app store. Just make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi.

The iPod Touch 4G can also message other Apple devices when it’s connected to Wi-Fi using a program called iMessage. So with the video chat and iMessage program, the iPod Touch 4G is basically a phone when there’s Wi-Fi (which is everywhere now). That’s great to know that I can check in with my son via iMessage or Face Time and I don’t have to buy him a cell phone.

The iPod Touch 4G also has some great data storage options. There are 3 sizes to choose from, 8GB, 32GB, or 64GB. For what my son needs I think that 8GB is too little and 64GB is way too much, making the 32GB iPod Touch 4G a perfect fit for my son to have music and pictures and video and all the apps he needs.

When I first started researching the iPod Touch 4G, I thought that it had cell phone capabilities because of the “4G” at the end of the product name. Turns out that 4G really means fourth generation, not the cellular 4G network. For me that was a plus because I don’t want to be stuck in another cell phone contract and have another monthly fee to pay.

I’ve also become very impressed with Apple’s app store and how they filter and approve all the apps they offer. I was nervous about my young son downloading something that had a virus or inappropriate material in it but since Apple checks out every app and holds it to a standard before approving it for a spot in the app store, I won’t have to worry about that anymore.

All in all the iPod Touch 4G seems great. I think the next step is to go to a local electronics retail store and actually play around with an iPod Touch 4G to see if I like it. So many products today seem great in the advertisement or on a review site, but you never truly know if you’ll like it until you try it or test it for yourself.

I’ll keep you posted on how my “hands on experiment” goes. I hope this has been helpful since I know that there aren’t many iPod Touch reviews for kids available.
